IWF 2020 is Cancelled
[from IWFAtlanta.com] As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our lives and enterprises, IWF 2020 and the global woodworking industry it serves are not immune to such intrusion. That inescapable reality lies at the heart of the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.
This unavoidable action comes only after long, intense and exhaustive study and consideration by the IWF show management team working in constant collaboration with the IWF 2020 Management Committee, whose members represent the Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America and the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association.
The decision to cancel North America’s oldest and largest woodworking event could not and did not come easily. At the same time, the conditions and circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic–including accompanying travel restrictions and federal, state and local governmental regulations–have made it impossible to stage IWF 2020 without endangering the health and safety of all exhibitors, attendees and the Atlanta community at large.

Challengers Award entrant Crows Nest promotes project management software

Crows Nest Software had not only planned to exhibit at IWF, but the company’s project management software was an entrant in the 2020 Challengers Award program. “We would have/are featuring Crows Nest Software, sharing its cohesiveness, extensibility and flexibility related to unique tailoring in terms of addressing each customer’s requirements,” explained Norm Fink of NPF Consultants, which represents the software company.

In the wake of IWF cancel, virtual opportunities open doors for Northern Contours

Hardware Resources launches new LED lighting product

For Hardware Resources IWF is a way to connect and network with as well as get important feedback on new products. In light of the show being cancelled, the company plans to increase it product promotions through webinars.
“We sell direct to cabinet makers, and don’t go through distributors, so we are already always seeing hundreds of customers a day,” said David Tyler, executive vice president, Hardware Resources. “For us, IWF is more of a “talk to customers” show than a take orders show. Plus, the opportunity to get a lot of feedback quickly on new products.

With IWF cancellation, NuTek Machinery finds ways to band with woodworkers

With trade shows currently on hold and in-person networking options limited, “We are maintaining a strong social media presence and personally contacting customers to understand their struggles and needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Rob Young of NuTek Machinery. “We are [also] evaluating dates we can hold an open house for smaller groups of people and scheduling customers with additional concerns by appointment to limit exposure to large crowds and to provide personal attention to their needs,” Young said.

Leuco goes digital, helps customers tool up

Prior to the cancellation of IWF, Leuco had planned to feature its full range of tooling technology, including *new innovative solutions for through-feed machines,” said Abi Shaffer, director of marketing. To help promote its products and connect with customers, “We are planning to launch a virtual webinar or virtual trade show booth,” she said. Virtual Solutions by Leuco also allows for customers in need of solutions to connect with the tooling specialist through Zoom appointments.
